VANCOUVER, Wash. — October 21, 2026. Law enforcement and education officials in Southwest Washington have launched a new public awareness campaign called Report, Don't Repost: Choose Care Over Clicks, aimed at improving school safety and discouraging the spread of unverified online threats.

The initiative was introduced October 20 in Vancouver. It was developed with participation from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Educational Service District 112, Vancouver Police Department, CRESA, and local school districts.

According to an official announcement from the City of Vancouver, schools across the county receive dozens of reports each year involving potential threats that originate or circulate online.

Law enforcement officials say that repeatedly sharing unverified threat-related posts can increase anxiety among students and families while complicating efforts to assess their credibility.

As part of the campaign, organizers have introduced ReportDontRepost.org, which provides guidance for students, parents, educators, and community members.

The campaign encourages people who encounter concerning online content to report it to school administrators, law enforcement, or designated reporting services such as HearMeWA rather than amplify it through social media.

In Clark County, residents can use 311 for non-emergency assistance. Anyone facing an immediate threat to life or safety should call 911.

The initiative is supported by grant funding. Officials describe it as an educational awareness campaign rather than a new emergency response system.

Because the program has just launched, there is not yet sufficient evidence to determine whether it will reduce the spread of online threats or improve reporting outcomes.
