VANCOUVER, Wash. — November 5, 2026.
Evergreen Public Schools has released four new scenarios for consolidating elementary schools as part of its facilities review.
On November 2, the district's Facilities Review Committee presented options involving the closure of two or three schools: Riverview, Hearthwood and Burnt Bridge Creek.
The four scenarios are:
- 1A: Close all three schools.
- 1B: Close Hearthwood and Riverview.
- 1C: Close Burnt Bridge Creek and Riverview.
- 1D: Close Burnt Bridge Creek and Hearthwood.
These are proposals under consideration, not final school closure decisions.
The district is reviewing school capacity, enrollment projections and building utilization. Its stated guiding principles include keeping neighborhoods and siblings together when possible, maintaining proximity to students' homes and considering safe walking routes.
The outcome could affect school assignments, family transportation and neighborhood school communities.
Public feedback is open through Monday, November 9.
The district's official website includes scenario maps, student reassignment materials and a survey where residents can submit their views.
WE PNW will continue following the review and subsequent district decisions.
