Washington State Ferries largely restored service Tuesday after a worker sickout disrupted much of the system the previous day.
At one point Monday, 13 of the system’s 18 vessels were out of service, according to Washington transportation officials.
Governor Bob Ferguson urged ferry employees to return to work, while the workers’ union said it had not coordinated the mass absence.
By Tuesday morning, most routes had returned to regular service.
Some cancellations remained on the Mukilteo-Clinton and Edmonds-Kingston routes because of crew shortages, while the Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth route was operating on a two-boat schedule.
Washington State Ferries continues to advise travelers to check service alerts before departure because schedules may change based on crew and vessel availability.
