ODOT said repairs and concrete replacement on the elevated I-5 through Portland’s Rose Quarter were completed ahead of the five-week work period that began Sept. 11. Crews began reopening the interstate and its ramps around 10 p.m. Oct. 7, with traffic expected to return starting midday Oct. 8.
ODOT said the closure enabled crews to replace the concrete overlay on 2,000 linear feet of southbound I-5 and replace 27 bridge joints.
ODOT said work will continue on seismic upgrades and replacement of rails and barriers. Single-lane overnight restrictions and occasional local street closures are expected through next spring.
