Portland says a report on middle housing has received the Oregon American Planning Association’s 2026 Building Tomorrow Today Award. The city says its Bureau of Planning and Sustainability accepted the honor on Sept. 16 with Cascadia Partners, a consulting firm.

The city says the report reviewed more than 1,400 permitted middle-housing units during a period running from Aug. 1, 2021, to June 30, 2024. It also says the units’ average sale prices were trending $250,000 to $300,000 below those of single-family homes, offering a price comparison across housing types.
