On Oct. 28, Portland City Council unanimously approved a resolution to prepare Portland Fire & Rescue for a future purchase of PFAS-free turnout gear. It creates a replacement sub-fund within the bureau’s Fire Capital Fund.
The city may consider moving General Fund underspending into the account to build savings for the changeover. Fire Bureau specialists must update the City Administrator on the gear’s progress and availability.
