Evgeny Taranov says he has been released after spending 15 days in immigration detention in Florida. The Russian-speaking blogger described his experience in a public Instagram post. Earlier reporting covered his detention following a dispute at his truck repair business.
According to Taranov, a disagreement over repair costs led to a police call before he was taken into immigration custody. He says an immigration judge later set bond at $7,500. His family tried to arrange payment through a bond company and then made a separate payment directly, he says. Taranov estimates the combined bond-related and legal costs at about $22,500.
Taranov also described limited communication with his family and difficult conditions during detention. After his release, he said, he wanted something as ordinary as a cup of coffee. These details reflect his account; WE PNW has not reviewed the court or payment records.
His story draws attention to the uncertainty and expense families can face while seeking a relative’s release from immigration custody.
